• About the TMA

  • Bordered on the north by State Road 70 and on the east by I-75, the Tara Master Association (TMA) is comprised of two deed-restricted neighborhoods:

    • Tara Golf & Country Club (TGCC), on the northwest side, which encircles a private golf course, and
    • The Preserve at Tara (aka The Preserve), on the southeast side, which wraps around a semiprivate golf course and more than 50 ponds

Both sections of the TMA community offer a range of single-family homes, golf villas, duplexes and condominiums ranging in price from less than $200,000 to more than $500,000.

As Tara’s governing homeowner’s association, the TMA is directed by a five-member Board of Directors elected by the property owners in the two neighborhoods. The TMA, with the assistance of its association management company, manages common property and landscaping, association insurance, architectural review & enforcement activities, and a community television contract that includes two community channels and bulk cable/internet services. The Board’s efforts help to ensure that the Tara community remains an attractive and highly desirable place to live.

The TMA is represented by Manatee County’s District 5 Commissioner. The TMA maintains a friendly, professional relationship with the County and with our District 5 Commissioner, helpful in the event of issues which may arise and come before the County Board that affect the TMA.

  • Tara and Tara Golf & Country Club, Inc.

  • Tara, the first phase of the community to be developed, has approximately 1,023 residences. All but 153 of these properties require membership in the Tara Golf and Country Club (TGCC), a member-owned, self-governed, equity club.

TGCC offers championship golf on its beautiful 18-hole, 6,800-yard, par 72 course designed by Ted McAnlis. Both the golf course and clubhouse were totally renovated in 2009. The course offers seven sets of tees and a variety of men’s and women’s leagues to challenge golfers of all skill levels. With mature landscaping and foliage, it features pond and preserve settings that invite many species of land and water birds. The golf course is surrounded by a variety of residences, including single homes, villas and condominiums with 24 sub-associations.

TGCC also offers its members two tennis courts where open play, mixed doubles and pickleball are enjoyed. At the Olympic-sized swimming pool, water aerobics is offered, along with a hot tub and an exercise facility. The TGCC Pro Shop carries a full line of golf equipment and apparel, as well as a professional staff ready to offer individual or group lessons.

At the clubhouse, table gaming features a very active bridge group, a men’s card group and mahjong. Several evenings each month are devoted to playing bingo and trivial pursuit. The restaurant hosts a wide range of social activities centered on themes or holidays offering music, dancing and congenial gatherings. Thanks to a very talented executive chef and several sous chefs, residents can enjoy fine dining in the acclaimed full-service restaurant. The Club’s Grille Room offers members great food and beverages in a relaxing atmosphere as well. On Sunday, brunch is available for both members and the public.

Visit the Tara Golf and Country Club website to learn more about TGCC’s competitive annual fees, fine amenities and all the pleasures of living at Tara. View community Channel 195 for news and information about TGCC activities.

  • The Preserve at Tara is the newer half of the Tara community – also referred to as Tara Phase II. The Preserve has 1,046 homes of varied sizes and types, including six condominium associations, maintenance-free villas, club homes and executive homes. Most were built between 2002 and 2006. These residences are interspersed around a championship golf course, more than 50 ponds, many walking and biking trails, and the common preserve areas that are home to many species of birds.

Golf is a favorite pastime of many residents, and the Preserve boasts a challenging 18-hole, 7,000-yard, par 72 course designed by Ted McAnlis. Featuring 52 lakes, lush landscaping, abundant ancient oaks, tall pines, and wildlife, the course exudes a genuine preserve feeling. Privately owned, the Preserve Golf Club is open to the public – greens fees or membership options – and hosts both men’s and ladies’ leagues. The clubhouse features a fully stocked Golf Shop with food and drinks in the Ryder Cup Grille.

Open to all Preserve residents, the Preserve Community Center features a swimming pool with spa and both tennis and pickleball courts. The Center is a gathering place for many kinds of social activities including:

    • Tech seminars
    • Book club
    • Line dancing classes
    • Yoga
    • Contract bridge
    • Card night
    • Scarlett O’Hara crafters
    • Pool volleyball
    • Mahjong
    • Preserve Social group

All are publicized on Channel 196, the Preserve’s community TV channel.

Unlike Phase I of the Tara community developed a decade earlier, The Preserve at Tara is actually a Community Development District named Tara Community Development District 1 (CDD). Established in 1999, the CDD is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors elected by Preserve property owners. They meet monthly at the Preserve Community Center. Go to the CDD website for more information.

The CDD oversees and maintains the Preserve’s facilities, including:

    • The Community Center
    • Swimming pool
    • Tennis and pickleball courts
    • Lakes & ponds
    • All common grounds
