Tara Golf and Country Club
Tara Golf and Country Club is a member-owned, self-governed, equity club with 871 members. Centrally located on SR70 near I-75, in Bradenton, Florida, Tara is convenient to several shopping malls and retail shops, supermarkets, banks, restaurants ranging from casual to fine dining, world class health care facilities and other professional and personal services. Tara offers members and their guests championship golf on its beautiful , 600 acre,18 hole, 6,800 yard, par 72, course designed by Ted McAnlis. The course is surrounded by a variety of attractive residences including single homes, villas and condominiums with 24 sub-associations. With mature landscaping and foliage, it features lake and preserve settings that invite many species of land and water birds. Members enjoy its impressive clubhouse and golf course both of which were totally renovated in 2009 without special assessments. The course offers 7 sets of tees to challenge golfers of many different skill levels. Golfers at Tara are offered league play through Men’s and Women’s Leagues, a Women’s Niners League, or the Tara Lites for more relaxed play. There are tournaments scheduled throughout the year, offering members and their guests many opportunities to challenge their skills while making new or reinforcing established friendships. Tara also offers its members two tennis courts where open play, mixed doubles and pickleball are enjoyed. At the Olympic sized swimming pool Aquacise is offered, along with an exercise facility and a hot tub. The Tara Pro-shop carries a full line of golf equipment and apparel, and has a professional staff ready to offer individual or group lessons to those who wish to improve their golf skills.
In addition to golf, tennis and swimming, Tara members are offered an impressive variety of friendly social functions and activities. Table games include a very active bridge group, a men’s card group and mahjong as well. Several evenings each month are devoted to the ever popular games of bingo and trivia. The restaurant hosts a wide range of social activities centered on themes or holidays offering music, dancing and congenial gatherings. Thanks to a very talented executive chef and several sous chef’s residents can enjoy fine dining in the acclaimed full service restaurant. On Sunday, brunch is available for both members and the public. Tara’s Grille Room offers great food and beverages in a relaxing atmosphere for its members as well.
Tara residents are fortunate in that they enjoy proximity to either Tampa International or Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport. Cruise ships conveniently depart regularly from nearby Tampa. Tara is a short drive from nationally acclaimed Gulf Coast beaches, Sarasota’s extensive arts, theater, gardens and museum offerings, the Pirates’ spring training center, Buccaneers and Rays games, Busch Gardens, Disney World, and the Kennedy Space Center.
